Volunteers Recognized at Appreciation Dinner

Fauquier Habitat’s volunteers were celebrated at a dinner held on December 9 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

“We are so very appreciative of the wonderful people who so freely give their time, energy and hearts to helping to ensure that everyone has a decent place to live. Whether at the ReStore, the office, a build site or through our committees, their dedication both humbles and inspires us,” said Paul Linz, Executive Director.

In addition to learning about the exciting projects under development for 2018, volunteers enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by Miss Kitty’s Soul Food.

Volunteers recognized for outstanding service were Bob Towle, Don and Priscilla Chamlee, Jerry and Irene Rounds, Craig Andrews and Mary Lowe who together have contributed more than a century to Fauquier Habitat! Awards were also presented to Melba Hendrix with the Partnership Committee and Kelp Armstrong with Women Build for the extended support given to Habitat families and the affiliate.

Dave Meadows and Bill Mercer were recognized for the incredible amount of time they have spent building homes and keeping our construction volunteers safe. Kudos were given to our 14-year-old ReStore volunteer, Brice Benson, for his energy and enthusiasm.

Finally, Habitat family member Carolina Navarrete was soundly applauded (and tightly hugged!) for her unceasing warm and generosity and for her “paying it forward” support of our newest Habitat family, the Haley’s.
